Daily Tip

Try using a solvent or heat to remove stubbornly stuck patterns from completed cuttings

Ever gotten to the end of cutting a piece and found that try as you might you couldn't get the pattern to release from the wood?

A solvent, such as low-odor mineral spirits (aka paint thinner for my Canadian Friends) will make quick work of removing a pattern, mist the pattern throughly with the mineral spirits allow it to sit for about 5 minutes and wala in most cases you will be able to remove the pattern in one piece. If you have areas that are still stuck simply repeat the process. Mineral spirits will not raise the grain of your wood and are farily gentle (as solvents go) to the skin.

Don't like the idea of using a solvent, then use a hair dryer. The hot air from the hair dryer directed at the paper pattern will help to release the glue, once you get a corner lifted, direct the air from the dryer at the bottom of the pattern where it is touching the wood and continue to slowly peel. This method isn't as fast as the thinner, but it is very effective.
