Daily Tip
Try something different to reduce the fuzzies that a spiral leaves
Jeff,
Thanks for the good pictures and patterns. I started scroll sawing about 1988. Your pictures have rekindled my interest in scroll sawing. Not being a computer whiz I know that I may have missed a lot of information. I noticed a lot of discussion about bottom fuzz from the spiral blade. Elmers Company makes a product called “Rotted Wood Stabilizer” which seals, hardens and strengthens the wood. I paint this on the bottom side of the wood. It goes on milky white and dries clear. Basically, it’s a liquid plastic made to stabilize wood. Let it dry overnight, then drill the blade holes. This reduces the fuzz by about 95 %. I believe if you use a reverse tooth spiral blade, you would be 100 % fuzz free. ( I haven’t tried the reverse spiral blade). It also reduces bottom blow out. If you haven’t tried this product, you may want to experiment with it. Keep up the good work.
