Daily Tip

While dust masks are not a required piece of equipment, you should consider wearing one while scrolling.

The fine dust that is produced by scroll sawing can be extremely hazardous to your health, but a quality mask can help to cut down on your exposure.

I have seen people try all kinds of things to help cut down on the dust, from box fans with furnace filters covering the sides, to full blown dust collection systems. While these methods are somewhat effective, nothing works as good as a high quality mask.

Your face is often very close to your work surface, and most scroll saws dust blowers blow the dust right at you. EVen a highly effective dust collection system will not catch that dust before you inhale it.

Keep this in mind the next time you sit down at the saw and put that mask on please; we want to keep you around and scrolling for a long time to come
