For obscurred pilot holes try using a blade to find them

I know it happens to me often, so I assume it happens to others as well, you have drilled 500 holes in your pattern, but 3/4 of them you can't see after cutting for a short period of time.

As frustrated as I get trying to force a blade into a hole that has either filled with dust, or is partially blocked by slivers of wood from drilling I had to figure out a way to quickly and easily cleanout the hole, without using all my best 4 letter words in the process.

It finally dawned on me, hey I have a bucket full of dull saw blades sitting right here... and on the rare occassion when that bucket is empty I have a container full of brand new sharp blades within arms reach always.

Using one of the dull blades, I made sure the teeth were pointed down (just like you install the blade in the saw) fed it through from the top and pulled it on through. Wah lah instantly cleaned out hole, no muss no fuss.

Here is one of those hidden benefits of using spirals, as you pull the blade through the hole, it not only will clean out the dust, but it will actually cut away any slivers that are in the way.

By using this process you can quickly and easily clean out those holes you just can't get your blade into and get back to cutting your pattern. Oh yeah it helps (at least in my case) to cut down on the language you wouldn't want your son or daughter to hear :) as well.
