Daily TipConsider investing in a nice frame and a mat to show off your cuttings I see it a lot, scrollers will spend 30 or 40 hours creating a work that blows everyone away, then they spend a dollar on the frame they put it in. Consider for a minute who is really getting cheated when you do that. You have invested a signifigant amount of your time, skill and love for scrolling into what was once a plain old piece of wood. After your work it is now a work of art, so don't cheat yourself or your work for that matter...frame it like one. You can find frames reasonably priced at a number of places two of my favorites are my local frame supply shop, and Hobby Lobby. The local frame supply shop is not a local framer they SUPPLY the local frame shops. They are wholesalers. I get frames from them for 1/2 the cost of buying them in a an actual frame shop. Hobby Lobby offers a sale monthly where all of their empty frames go onsale half price. This is a great time to stock up, the best thing is that if they are oput of the frame you want, they will order it for you and you will still get it half price. Talk about a deal you can't miss. Besides the obvious reason that your work deserves to have that professional touch. Consider this When I first started selling my work at shows, I used the cheap $2 frames and sold pieces for $25. I now sell the exact same pieces in a frame and mat (that cost me $17 total frame, mat, glass, foam, hangers, wire, paper and two sided tape (to seal the back) for well over $100 just because of the frame. Thats a pretty good return on my investment. It also shows what I think about my work and influences other people to think the same way. |
