Daily TipUse something to reinforce fragile areas of your cutting until you finish it A lot of the patterns out there (especially mine :) ) have areas in them that get pretty fragile when they are cut. To help keep you from having to take nerve pills, reinforce those areas until you finish cutting. There are many ways to do this, but here are two of my favorites. Try clear packing tape. Clear tape over the front and back of your cutting will help to sandwich those fragile pieces and hold them in place. You won't have to worry nearly as much about grabbing your cutting in the wrong place and breaking out a piece. The clear tape is see through so you can still see the pattern underneath. There are two drawbacks to this method, first if you drill all your holes before you start cutting, you will need to open them back up when the tape covers them. secondly, the tape will protect your pieces from up and down movement, but doesn't really hold them in place. The other method to secure your pieces, is to "tape" the cut outs back in. By putting the wood you have cut out back into your piece you will have a much more stable piece. the scrap wood will hold the cutting in place nicely and protect it in all directions. While you will still have to open any holes you covered, you will find that the piece is much better protected. Trying to reinforce your piece of work will help you to cut patterns you never thought you could.
