Daily Tip

When cutting very small pieces of wood, use a cardboard backing to help you control the wood and ensure that your fingers are away from the blade.

By adhering your wood to a piece of cardboard that is fairly rigid, and larger then the piece of wood, you can help to keep your fingers out of the way of the blade. It is important that the cardboard be ridgid, or when you you turn it, it will bend rather then move the wood. You must also make sure that your block of wood is adhered to the wood securely, if it isn't the cardboard will turn under the wood and you will be left with a cutting that doesn't come close to following the pattern.
