Daily Tip

When using an air compressor to remove the dust from your cuttings, use something as a backer to protect your work.

I have had it happen to me many times, spend 40 hours at the saw, cut a project that you are extremely proud of, take it to the compressor to blow out the dust, it does just that and more... it also blows out 1/2 of your cutting.

This mishap can be avoided in two simple steps that will save you much frustration.

First be sure to turn the pressure on your compressor way down, most compressors come with a regulator that shuts off between a hundred and a hundred ten pounds per square inch, thats way too much to subject our fragile cuttings to. Crank the pressure down to somewhere in the 50 psi range and that will help greatly. Here's one added step that will all but guarentee success.

Lean your cutting against an old window screen while blowing the dust. The holes in the screen will allow the dust to be blown away, and give the air a place to go. While the screens wire will help to support your cutting and keep the rushing air from snapping them off.

You will just have to be careful that while waving your air nozzle back and forth across the piece that you don't snap any pieces off from side to side motion.
